Personal Training

what is fitness?

Fitness can be defined as the ability to exercise or perform your daily activities without undue fatigue or stress on your body. The major components of fitness include stamina, strength and flexibility.

Stamina is the endurance during an activity and depends on the state of your heart and lungs and general circulation. Strength is the ability of your muscles to pull, push or carry heavy objects and flexibility is the ability of your muscles to stretch and allow an adequate range of motion.

Exercise is a vital part of our lives. It provides emotional and mental relief. We all need exercise and we all need to make that necessary effort to build it into our lives. Even after a short time of following a simple regime, you will begin to see and feel the difference in your health and fitness.

Exercise is essential for physical and mental wellbeing. If you are in a sedentary job, are over weight or get out of breath after relatively minor exertion, then the chances are that you are not as fit as you can be. In the long term this can lead to ill health.

Next to maintaining a healthy diet, keeping physically active is one of the most important things you can do to safeguard your health.

benefits of exercise

Staying fit and healthy lowers the risk of many diseases, including, heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and even cancer. It can also lower blood pressure and improve circulation.

Exercise also helps warn off many of the changes associated with ageing, such as loss of muscle tone, poor circulation and decreased flexibility. It keeps you slim as it speeds up the metabolism and increases the amount of lean muscle tissue. Muscle uses more energy than fat; so the fitter you are the more calories you'll burn.

There are also psychological benefits associated with exercise. For example it can improve your moods, make you think more clearly, feel more positive and help you sleep better.

Providing that your calorie intake remains the same the calories burned during exercise will lead to you losing weight.

Other benefits include:

Core stability training

Exercising larger muscles (prime movers), may not be providing you with the correct strengthening for the essential small muscles in your body, such as the multifidus, transverse abdominis and pelvic floor. When these muscles are working properly they provide increased stability to the spine, pelvis and rib cage. This then provides a stable platform for the larger muscles.

When your core unit is functioning correctly, joint injury is infrequent, even under extreme loads such as pushing a car, tackling an opponent in rugby or lifting heavy weights in the gym. When it is not functioning correctly, activation of large muscles can be put in unstable positions.

Muscle balance is always a priority whilst training, therefore we always try to educate and encourage training in this form to improve posture thus leading to a more aesthetically profound physique.

Older adult training

Improve your health and functional capacity! It's never too late to start an exercise routine!

Fortunately, the bottom line for all of us is that advancing age doesn't have to spell an end to high-quality performances. With some basic adjustments in our lives, we can thwart time's attempts to slow us down and continue to live a healthy and fulfilling life. We can come to your home and help you exercise in your own surroundings

Personal training

Whether you want to increase performance, lower body fat, improve posture or lower back pain, we offer a personalised service and every programme is tailored to the individuals body limitations and goals in mind.

Most of us find it difficult to overcome the excuses that are stopping us from exercising. For example:

"I'm too busy"
"I'm too tired after work"
"what's the point, it didn't work last time"
"I'm always travelling around"

Very few fitness solutions address these issues ,but personal training does.

Why hire a personal trainer?

Personal training is not just for those that need help in motivating themselves but also for individuals that need guidance in programme design or education into injury prevention. Particularly for those that are training for a particular sport or event and need the assistance in specific training and techniques that will benefit them.

Group Training

With our group training sessions you can enjoy training with your friends. With a maximum of 4 people you will still receive that detailed instruction and specific core conditioning. It is important to enjoy exercise and for some training in a small group is great for motivation.
